Helping small businesses get back on their feet
The Covid-19 crisis has highlighted the backwardness of local businesses in terms of digitalization. VSEs were the hardest hit by the pandemic, and are now keen to take advantage of the economic upturn to get back into business.
SumUp is a financial technology company that enables merchants to receive payments quickly and simply in-store and online. At the end of 2018, the company launched its 3G payment terminal so that customers would be able to process payments without the need for a mobile app or Wi-Fi connection. Since then, SumUp has expanded its product range with acquisitions including Debitoor for accounting and invoicing, and Shoplo for e-commerce and online marketplaces.
On May 25, 2020, in a press release, the fintech announced the launch of a Saas-based solution for merchants wishing to open an online store and increase their sales following a period of interruption lasting several weeks due to the containment.
Sell at any time with no hidden costs
Called SumUp E-shop Start, SumUp's solution is simple and free. Merchants can create their store very easily, adding their products, logo, social networks and delivery details in just a few clicks. Having an online store allows them to accept payments at any time and maintain contact with their customers. SumUp specifies that the offer is available without any registration fees or monthly charges. Merchants only pay when they make a sale: 2.5% transaction fee per sale.
SumUp also offers small businesses a simple, intuitive way to create an e-commerce site in line with their brand, thanks to the SumUp E-shop Plus, Pro and Premium solutions. These offers provide access to a number of additional functionalities, including email notifications, online payment, customer management, marketing integration and product listing and management. Monthly subscriptions cost 9, 29 or 59 euros, depending on the version chosen, and fees are 1.95% per transaction.
More than 2 million entrepreneurs already trust SumUp to process their payments. The startup has set itself the goal of continuing to grow and develop its teams by recruiting in its offices on three continents.
