Do the French entrust their CB to their lovers? That's the question Anytime, the alternative or complementary account to banks for individuals and professionals, wanted to ask the French to better understand their habits. According to a survey carried out with YouGov between June 29 and 30 among 1,002 people representative of the population, the answer is a resounding "YES": almost 70% of French couples entrust their CB to Anytime (69%)! However, this remains more occasional than usual: 41% of French people lend their CB occasionally, compared with 28% on a daily basis.

Nearly 7 out of 10 French people lend their bank card

  • Among French couples, 28% entrust their bank card to their partner on a daily basis, while 41% say they lend their card to their partner on an occasional basis.
  • The 25-34 and 35-44 age groups, at 74% and 76% respectively, are the French most inclined to lend.

To the question "In your daily life, do you ever entrust your bank card to your partner? Please select one answer only", asked of French people, participants in couples were given a choice of answers:

  • Yes, often (28%)
  • Yes, occasionally (41%)
  • No, never (31%)

At last, a subject on which couples agree! Men and women lend their bankcard to their partner in a similar way: the proportion of men who occasionally (41%), often (28%) or never (31%) entrust their CB to their partner is exactly the same as for women. Men and women seem to agree on their vision of sharing their credit card.

The age of reason: myth or reality? The French are most likely to entrust their credit card to someone between the ages of 25 and 44. Nearly half of the youngest segment of the population, 18-24 year olds, say they never entrust their spouse with their credit card (44%).

Town or country: the French agree The proportion of French people who frequently resort to this practice is more or less the same in villages, small towns, medium-sized cities and large towns, with 30%, 27% and 28% respectively answering "Yes, often".

Having a child doesn't change the situation This trend doesn't seem to be linked to children either, as the French tied at 41% when asked if they occasionally lend their bank card to a child under 18.
