SensCyber: a program to help your VSE protect itself against cyber attacks

With cyber attacks on the rise, businesses are increasingly vulnerable. To protect themselves and maintain their business, the SensCyber program offers basic training to small and medium-sized businesses, helping them to prepare for cyber risks.

Very small businesses, the main targets of cyber attacks

Due to their sheer numbers, small and medium-sized businesses are the first victims of cyber attacks. Yet employees are not always aware of the cyber threats that have gained ground in recent years, including account hacking (unauthorized access to an online account),phishing (online fraud aimed at obtaining sensitive information), and ransomware attacks (a form of malware that blocks access to a victim's data, then demands a ransom to restore it).

The consequences of a cyber attack are far-reaching:

  • theft of personal data,
  • financial losses,
  • service interruption,
  • risks to national security,
  • safety-related expenses...

With this in mind, Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr has set up "SensCyber", a cybersecurity awareness program recently extended to VSEs, SMEs and private individuals.

A free program consisting of three modules

SensCyber, a partner of France Num, is a free program consisting of 3 modules.

  1. The first module "Understanding lasts 43 minutes and is designed to answer the following questions:
    • What are today's threats?
    • What are the risks for me and my organization?
    • What should I do if I fall victim to a cyber attack?
  2. The second module, "Taking action", lasts 33 minutes and details the best practices and reflexes to adopt in everyday digital life.
  3. The third module, "Transmit", lasts 33 minutes and includes a list of public players to contact in the event of a cyber attack.

Developed in a short format, the modules enable employees to learn at their own pace and from a distance. At the end of the course, an online follow-up certificate is issued to each learner.

How do I access SensCyber?

To access SensCyber, simply create an account on the Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr platform and start the training program. The course is open to all, with no technical prerequisites.

Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr has just extended its SensCyber program to small and medium-sized businesses. This e-awareness program is based on interactive educational content, in the form of short videos and knowledge tests. It should enable professionals to discover the main cyber risks and better protect themselves through certain reflexes and best practices.

"Today, we recommend [...] making this e-awareness training compulsory, so that every employee can acquire the right reflexes in the face of cyber threats. It only lasts 1 hour and 50 minutes, and the last person to download your follow-up certificate brings breakfast," says Jérôme Notin, Managing Director of Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr, in a press release.
